Richie Johnson

The Students went on tour with The Chess All-Star Review in 1959 and 1960. The tour also starred such greats as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, The Moonglows, The Monotones, and Etta James. They also toured on Dick Clark's Road Show and appeared at the well known Apollo Theatre and Radio City Music Hall.

During the 1970's, after The Students disbanded, Richard Johnson joined Charlie Thomas' The Drifters.

In 1957, Richie formed The Ditalians which included school mates in Cinti, OH. Their named changed to the Students in 1958. The Students recorded at Chess Records in Chicago. Sitting in for the recordings of "I'm So Young," "Every Day of the Week," "My Vow to You," and "That's How I Feel" were:

-Wes Montgomery (guitar),
-Monk Montgomery (bass),
-Jimmy Foxx (Redd's brother)(drums), and
-Jimmy Coe (sax)

Today, they are still performing and delighting audiences in clubs, concerts and corporate events!
